From Press Release
There’s no better way to launch the biggest weekend of the lacrosse year.
Denver head coach Bill Tierney, who led the Pioneers to their first national championship last spring, highlights the Philly Showcase Kickoff this Friday, Nov. 20 at Main Line Sports Center. MLSC is located at 1340 Swedesford Road, Berwyn, Pa. 19312.
Tierney, who also won six national championships at Princeton, will speak on the modern recruiting landscape. All players who are registered to play in the Nike Boys Philly Showcase and Nike Philly Freshman Showcase are invited to attend the Kickoff. The Kickoff offers participants a chance to register early and collect their Showcase Lacrosse gear bags. Registration begins at 7:30. There will also be a gear store open from 7:30-9.
The night will feature Division I coaches running a 30-minute position-based skills clinic at 8 p.m. Each clinic will feature a Division I coach specialized at that position for attackers, midfielders, faceoff specialists, defensemen and goalies. Players attending are encouraged to get there early to make sure they have time to warm up and get loose.
“Coach Tierney is in a class of his own as a coach and his résumé speaks for itself,” Director of Showcase Lacrosse Brett Manney said. “It’s special to have someone of his caliber highlight the Philly Showcase Kickoff before the two biggest recruiting events in the country.”

About Bill Tierney
One of college lacrosse’s legendary coaches, Bill Tierney led Denver to its first national championship in 2015, making him the first coach to win national titles with two different programs. Tierney also won six national championships at Princeton before leaving for Denver. The Pioneers were the first school located in a state not bordering the Atlantic Ocean to win the title.
He holds an 83-25 record as the Pioneers’ coach, including a superb 33-4 mark in conference play, and Denver has made it to Championship Weekend in four of the past five years. Under Tierney, the Pioneers have annually had one of the most diverse and entertaining offenses in the country. (via denverpioneers.com)
