Boys’ recruit: Half Hollow Hills West 2015 LSM/DEF Flynn commits to St. John’s

Half Hollow Hills West junior LSM/defenseman Malcolm Hannibal Flynn has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at St. John’s University.

Club Affiliation: Hills West

Major lacrosse honors: 4 year varsity starter, 2x Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip participant, Led Long Island LSM’s in ground balls as a freshman, Rookie of the year runner up, 5x Long Island Express orange team member.

Other sports: Martial Arts

Academic honors: Honor Roll, 2013 Personal Best Award recipient, 2013 Student Athlete.

What will you major in/study? Political Science

Why did you choose the school? “During my visits I was impressed by how serious the coaching staff and players took lacrosse and their academics. Also, I wanted to play for a college team that has a serious chance at winning the NCAA Championship. Additionally, I was impressed with the coaching staff’s New York-swagger-in-the-city-that-never-sleeps attitude.”

What is your team’s outlook for next season? “We are all amped up and ready to go. We made the playoffs two years in a row and I am confident that we will do as well or better this season.”

Other comments: “First and foremost, I would like to thank God for his blessings and my father for coaching me and inspiring me to play at my best. Also I would like to thank my mother and sister for reminding me that whatever I believe I could achieve.”

Other schools considered? Air Force Academy, UMass, Albany, Towson, and Ohio State.
