Girls’ recruit: South Side 2014 midfield-defender Albertsen commits to UMass-Lowell

South Side High School (NY) senior midfield-defender Megan Albertsen has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

College Choice: UMass-Lowell

Club Affiliation: Long Island Yellow Jackets

Lacrosse Honors: Rookie of the year, Varsity lacrosse as a Sophomore, 2013 Conference Champions

Academic Honors: National Honor Society, Full IB Diploma candidate

What will you major in/study? Physical Therapy

Why did you choose UMass-Lowell? “I chose UMass-Lowell because I love the Boston area, my brother goes to BU so its a 30 minute trip from him. I also really like Coach (Carissa) Medeiros and Coach (Ashley) Durepo. The campus and the physical therapy program is exactly what I was looking for. The new program is also a great opportunity considering there is only one class above me.”

What are your thoughts on the upcoming season? “My High School team lost a few key players and seniors but we are a strong team. We just got moved up a conference so we are playing really tough competition. We are really working hard this winter to prepare for the spring season ahead.”

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank my PAL lacrosse coach from 7th grade Scott Maxwell, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have realized my true love for the game. All my yellow jackets and school coaches throughout the years and my family for always supporting me and having my back.”
