From Press Release
The Shootout for Soldiers, 24-hour lacrosse game benefiting wounded American soldiers, is proud to announce plans to host the event in Baltimore and Long Island in 2014.
The event, which began in Baltimore in 2012, has raised over $250,000 for wounded American military personnel and has been a community oriented and volunteer led event. McDonogh School will once again host the event in Baltimore on June 19-20. The Field of Dreams site in Massapequa will host the event in Long Island on July 24-25.
The Shootout for Soldiers organizers are also excited to release a short film on the event, which details the event and its community origins. The film also features interviews with those in attendance at the event last year, including MLL stars Paul Rabil and Steele Stanwick as well as Baltimore Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh.
All three have been avid supporters of the event, as well as Team USA Head Coach Richie Meade who expressed his excitement for the event.
“I am thrilled that the Shootout for Soldiers is continuing to grow in support of our wounded warriors. I look forward to supporting the event and attending the event for my third year in a row. It is a tremendous opportunity for the lacrosse community to support our military. I hope that through playing in the event, young men and women will appreciate the sacrifices required for our freedom. Please join me in my support for the Shootout for Soldiers!” – Richie Meade (Head Coach of Furman University, Team USA)
“The event has grown a lot the last two years, and I’m extremely grateful for all the volunteers who’ve helped make this happen. The Long Island community has been an absolute pleasure to work with, and their passion to support our nation’s military is truly special. I’m very excited for this year’s events, and the opportunity to partner with these powerful organizations.” – Tyler Steinhardt (Event Founder & Director)
