From Press Release
After several weeks of spirited drills, two collegiate scrimmages and intense scrutiny by the Pride coaching staff, the 2013 Hofstra Men’s Lacrosse Fall Season came to a close on Sunday with the annual Alumni Game at James M. Shuart Stadium.
Approximately three dozen alums returned for the day of lacrosse, mentoring and friendship on the Hofstra campus. Alumni from five decades were in attendance as Hofstra Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Seth Tierney and the current staff and players welcomed their predecessors back to campus.
After a meeting in the Pride locker room, a spirited game was held with the current Pride edging the alumni Pride, 13-11. A post-game barbeque, under the Howard “Howdy” Myers Pavilion, wrapped up the Alumni Day activities.
“We had a terrific alumni game, the best in recent years,” Tierney stated. “My hat goes off to all our alums who came back with tremendous focus and gave us all that we could handle. The alumni game means everything to us. The biggest thing that we can take away from the day, regardless of score and stats, is that 17 freshmen were able to see what it meant to our alums to come back and play in Shuart Stadium again and to see their love for Hofstra Lacrosse. Every newcomer was amazed at the effort our alums gave and how willing they were to play as hard as they did to make us a better team. I can’t thank our alums enough.”
