The schedule for the 2013 Brine National Lacrosse Classic has been announced. The Classic will take place June 30 – July 3 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland.
Entering its sixth year, the premier national high school lacrosse tournament and middle school academy features more than 740 elite boys and girls lacrosse players from throughout the country representing their respective regions competing for a national championship.
The Brine National Lacrosse Classic offers select players the opportunity to showcase their lacrosse skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in front of NCAA collegiate lacrosse coaches from every division.
Kicking off at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Sunday, June 30, is an opening ceremony with a parade of all the 1,300 participants (including middle school and high school players). Practice and competition for both the middle school and high school level begins on Monday, July 1. Competition continues on Tuesday, July 2 and the championship games for all levels will culminate on Wednesday, July 3.
“We are pleased to continue to build on the success of last year’s event by welcoming 1,300 of the nation’s premier middle school and high school lacrosse players to the 2013 Brine National Lacrosse Classic,” said Joel Franklin, Brine National Lacrosse Classic executive director. “With these regional teams representing virtually most of the continental United States and parts of Canada and the inclusion of many of the game’s top collegiate-eligible high school players, this year’s tournament promises to be the premier lacrosse event on the high school calendar.
“This event is a true showcase of the best high school lacrosse players, and we look forward to continuing to make the Brine National Lacrosse Classic a must-see event on the lacrosse calendar.”
Additionally, now entering its third year as part of the tournament weekend, is the Brine National All-Star Lacrosse Academy, a daily series of seminars on human performance and mental preparedness led by Duke University assistant men’s lacrosse coach Ron Caputo, Duke assistant women’s coach Kristen Waagbo, and one of the nation’s leading sports psychologists and peak performance coaches, Dr. Greg Dale, also of Duke University.
Team Pennsylvania is the two-time defending champion in the middle school girls’ academy tournament.
