Boys’ lacrosse: Chaminade falls to Yorktown, 12-8; Manhasset wins Woodstick classic

Host Yorktown used a 5-0 run in the third quarter to spark a 12-8 victory over the No. 2 team in the country, Chaminade Saturday in boys’ lacrosse.

Connor Vercruysse led the Huskers (10-1) with three goals and sparked the surge that allowed Yorktown to take a 9-4 lead after three quarter.

Chaminade (9-1) is ranked No. 2 by TopLaxRecruits.com as well as Under Armour//Inside Lacrosse and Nike/US Lacrosse.

Brian Prestreau and Luke Palmadesso each added two goals for Yorktown. Austin Graham posted 10 saves.

Ryan Lukacovic had three goals and two assists and Sean Cerrone two goals for the Flyers.

Manhasset 9, Garden City 7

Kevin Overlander collected three goals and an assist while Matt Gavin and Tommy Lavelle added two goals as the host Indians (8-3) won the 123rd edition of the Woodstick Classic, the nation’s longest uninterrupted high school boys lacrosse rivalry.

Justin Guterding and Cody George each had two goals for the No. 18 Trojans (7-3)
