Women’s lacrosse: Altomare Named CAA Player Of The Week

Sophomore attack Brittain Altomare was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Player of the Week, it was announced this afternoon by the conference office.

Altomare earns the award after helping Hofstra to a win over Marist last Wednesday and a narrow defeat to #1 Maryland on Sunday.

She shared the award with Casey Ancarrow of James Madison.

Altomare had another strong week for Hofstra as she led the way with 11 points on six goals and five assists.

Altomare got the week started with a stellar seven-point effort at Marist, notching four goals and three assists in the 14-8 win. The seven points tied her career-high, set last season against George Mason.

Against top-ranked Maryland, a 16-11 loss, Altomare showed her talent level once again as she posted four point on two goals and two assists against the Terps. She also had two draw controls in each game and a ground ball in each contest.

This season she leads Hofstra goals, assists and points with 11 goals, 11 assists and 22 points. She also has nine draw controls, six ground balls and five caused turnovers.

Hofstra (4-1) is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Yale at 1 p.m.
