From Press Release

Freshman Brody Eastwood (Victoria, British Columbia) tallied his second hat trick in as many games and freshman Dan Shaughnessy (Sudbury, Mass.) stopped nine shots as the Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team held off Lafayette, 12-10, Tuesday night at Fisher Stadium in Easton, Pa.

Freshman Jake Sichenzia (Sayville, N.Y.) tallied a career-high three points (1g, 2a), including a huge goal that ended a streak of four unanswered Lafayette scores.

Senior Jeff Tundo (Orchard Park, N.Y.), sophomore Mike Andreassi (Holbrook, N.Y.) and freshman Challen Rogers (Coquitlam, British Columbia) each tallied two goals in a game the Seawolves never trailed in.

Sonny Round led Lafayette with three goals.

Coach Jim Nagle’s Reaction

“Jake’s goal that stopped their momentum was huge. Things weren’t going our way at that point for a number of reasons, but Jake’s goal was much needed. The young guys are gaining a lot of experience in only two games. A great victory.”

Turning Point

Lafayette scored four straight goals, cutting Stony Brook’s biggest lead of 11-6 to 11-10. A save by Lafayette goalie Jake Hyatt nearly ignited a fast break, but Challen Rogers interception negated the clear attempt and gave the Seawolves new life. Rogers’ assist of Sichenzia’s lefty rocket from just left of the slot ended a drought of more than 11 minutes to help the Seawolves regain a two-goal lead.
