From Press Release

The Bucknell men’s lacrosse team graduated a handful of key players from last year’s 9-7 squad, including leading scorer and Third Team All-American Billy Eisenreich, but head coach Frank Fedorjaka is very excited about a group of 13 newcomers that should help compensate for the loss of that skilled senior class. The rookie crop includes 12 freshman and one sophomore transfer, and the class includes top talent at every field position from attack back to close defense.

“This class is full of impact players,” said Fedorjaka, whose squad is ranked No. 18 nationally in the preseason by Face-Off Magazine. “We expect four midfielders to contribute immediately. Brock Ghelfi could be the fastest and quickest player on the team with a terrific burst. Kyle Shanahan is a well-rounded player that can shoot it from anywhere and has a significant physical presence. Thomas Flibotte is one of the strongest players on the team and has the hardest shot on the team. Eric Monfort is going to make an immediate impact on face-offs and brings tremendous athleticism to the table.

“On defense we expect Alex Spring to be our LSM. He has exceptional stick skills for a pole and has the ability to pick off passes. He has adapted very well to our complicated defensive scheme and gets better each week.

“On attack Sean Doyle has moved into a starting position for us and will be our top ball carrying attackman. He has terrific vision and sneaky quickness. We are expecting big things from Sean this spring.”

Fedorjaka’s teams have frequently received big contributions from first-year players. Last year midfielder David Dickson earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors and led all Division I freshmen in assists with 26. Others such as Kyle Feeney, Peter Burke, John Scally, Jason Neithamer, Charlie Streep, Mike Danylyshyn, Tim Brandau, Austin Winter, Billy Haire and Joe Mele have excelled as rookies under Fedorjaka.
