Girls’ recruit: East Hampton junior midfield Pizzo commits to Yale

East Hampton junior midfield Maggie Pizzo has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Yale University and begin the admissions process.

College Choice: Yale University

Club Affiliation: Long Island Yellow Jackets Blue

Major lacrosse honors: U-15 National championship team, National Schoolgirls tournament team 2, 2X All-County as freshman and sophomore, high school MVP as sophomore

Academic Honors: High Honor Roll, Academic excellence awards (highest/second highest GPA) in every subject, member of the All-County band.

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose Yale? “Yale is the best of both worlds for me, with a highly competitive academic institution as well as a strong lacrosse program that is improving every year. I loved Coach (Anne) Phillips’ attitude towards creating a winning team, and I felt an immediate connection with the players.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next season? “Last season we made playoffs for the first time in the program’s history, so we are hoping to advance even further next year.”

Other schools considered: Brown, Georgetown, Cornell
