Sachem North junior midfielder-FO Mike Calvagna has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Stony Brook University.

Why did you choose Stony Brook? “Stony Brook University is one of the top universities in the country. Coach (Jim) Nagle and the rest of his staff made me feel like I would really fit into their lacrosse program. They have everything that I am looking for academically and athletically. It is also close to home which makes it easy for my family to come and see me play.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for next season? “We graduated many seniors, but our program has a lot of depth and we expect to compete for a championship every season.”
Other schools considered? Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, and Marquette
Additional comments: “I would like to thank my head coach at Sachem North, Jason Mauro, for my development as a lacrosse player and preparing me for the next level of the game. I would also like to thank him for helping me out with the recruiting process.
“Another person I would like to thank is my face off trainer John Antoniades for teaching me all of my techniques at the “x”. Finally, I would like to thank my off season strength trainers at Dominant Natural Athletics.”
