The Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation will be sponsoring the 1st Annual Edward Taylor Coombs Memorial Fall Ball event Oct. 20-21 at Hatboro-Horsham High School with 17 men’s and women’s college teams.
The event is hosted by Hatboro-Horsham, Marist College and Ursinus College. The Edward Taylor Coombs (ETC) Foundation was established in honor of nineteen year old Edward Taylor Coombs, a Hatters graduate who was tragically killed in a car accident on August 6th, 2011.
Edward was an academically gifted and athletically talented young man with an easy smile and huge heart. Edward was a rising sophomore on the 2012 Marist College Men’s Lacrosse team who was a starter in a number of game as a freshman defensive midfield for the Red Foxes and named the program’s 2011 freshman of the year.
The event will run for two days. Day one, on Saturday the 20th, will feature Division 1 and Division II men’s teams Marist, Lafayette, Binghamton, Manhattan, Merrimack, and Dowling. Saturday will also include Division 1 women’s teams Marist, Wagner, and La Salle. Division III men’s teams will meet on Sunday the 21st and will include Ursinus, St. Mary’s, Cabrini, McDaniel, Montclair State, Scranton, Mercy and Eastern.
Admission to the games is $5.00, free for all under the age of 5. Parking will be free in the lots surrounding the high school.
All proceeds for this event will be donated to the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation, a 501 c)3) non-profit, for both higher education scholarships as well as educational based programs supporting positive and responsible decision making.
