Trevor Brosco tallied three goals and two assist as Shoreham Wading River’s routed Bronxville, 11-2, today in the New York State Class C Semifinals at Hofstra University.

Shoreham Wading River (18-3) will move on to represent Long Island in the New York State Class C finals against Penn Yan (21-2) on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Middletown High School.

“In the first half we weren’t finishing as well as we should’ve,” said senior Brosco, “But we started to put them away in the second half.

“Our defense played great today Joe Longo, Chris Mahoney and Dylan Bates were really keeping pressure on the Bronxville attack.

“This win is very nice but we still have one more game. It’s unfinished business; we aren’t done yet.”

Shoreham-Wading River offense started slowly, scoring two goals in the first quarter and one in the second quarter. But Tyler Lutjen (six saves) and the defense were standout in shutting out Bronxville in the half.

In the second half Shoreham-Wading River pulled despite strong goaltending from Eric Pass (12 saves). The Wildcats kept Bronxville scoreless until the 2:47 mark of the fourth quarter.

James Higgins had three goals and both Ryan Bray and Dylan Brosco tallied two goals for Shoreham.

“We had a lot of opportunities early,” said Shoreham-Wading River coach Tom Rotanz, “I just told my kids to be patient because it’s going to happen and then we got two quick scores in the beginning of third quarter. After that we took a sigh of relief and just started playing our game.

“Penn Yan is a powerful team so we will see. It’s scary because every team you face is very good.”

Brewster Warble scored two goals for Bronxville.

“We had a great season,” said Bronxville head coach Tim Horgan. “We won 20 games and we made it to the State semifinals two years in a row.

“We had a successful year. Our goalie played awesome today; without him in the pipes today this becomes an ugly score. It still wasn’t pretty, but we did very well.”
