Cold Spring Harbor (14-3) advances to play the winner of Shoreham-Wading River and Bayport Bluepoint in Wednesday’s Suffolk County title game for the Long Island Championship on Saturday at Hofstra University.

“This was a great win for us,” said senior midfielder Simonetti. “We came out strong and luckily we got the win. We had a hard week of preparation and we knew our matchups today.
“We feel very confident and hopefully we can make a run going forward. The Long Island Championship should be a good game; we lost there last year so to be back is great and we want to win this year.”

The Seahawks jumped to a 5-1 first-period lead and stretched the margin to 8-1 on a goal by Porzelt with 22.8 seconds left in the half.

Sean Doyle added two goals and three assists for the Seahawks.

“We played a good first half and a terrible second half,” said Cold Spring Harbor head coach Dennis Bonn, “We ended up losing the second half 5 to 3 and I’m not happy at all about that.
“The good news is that we won another county championship. That’s two in a row and six in the last eleven years.

“We get to play again on Saturday whether it is Shoreham Wading River or Bayport Bluepoint, two excellent teams so we will regroup and see what we can do Saturday afternoon.”

Chris Roufanis (8 saves) received outstanding goalie honors, Doyle received outstanding offensive player and Jake Gennosa received outstanding defensive player for Cold Spring Harbor.

Will Sands had three goals and one assist and Harry Dellafera contributed two goals for Friends (12-6).

“Despite what happened today I am very, very excited,” said Friends head coach Brian Crocco. “With how the boys responded in the second half and with how we developed all season.

“We spent a good part of the season figuring out who we were going to be and I’m really proud of the way these guys responded.”
