For the first time this season the LILacrosse News top 10 rankings remained the same from the previous week, but that should change after this week’s playoff games.

On Thursday, No. 2 Chaminade will face Catholic League rival No. 6 St. Anthony’s for the Long Island and state Class AAA CHSAA championship at Hofstra. The schools played two games this season – both won by Chaminade – decided by a total of four goals; a 6-5 Flyers win on April 5 and an 11-8 victory on May 10. An equally competitive game is anticipated.

In Nassau, the stakes are equally high as top ranked Garden City will face Under Consideration Long Beach in a county Class B semifinal on Wednesday. No. 9 Wantagh will play Under Consideration Manhasset in the other Class B semifinal on Tuesday. No. 7 Massapequa plays Port Washington in Class A semifinal on May 22. All games are at Hofstra.

In Suffolk, in the Class A quarterfinals No. 3 West Islip will play Northport, No. 4 Smithtown West faces Half Hollow Hills East and No. 8 Ward Melville takes on Smithtown East, all on Tuesday. No. 5 Comsewogue faces Hauppauge in a Class B semifinal and No. 10 Shoreham Wading-River plays John Glenn in a Class C. Both games are on Thursday. Under Consideration Cold Spring Harbor faces North Shore in a Nassau Class C semifinal on Tuesday and Sayville (13-3) plays Eastport-South Manor in a Suffolk Class B semi on Thursday.
