Halle Majorana played huge when host Manhasset needed her to, getting the offense going with the first goal and scoring the last goal of the game in today’s 12-6 win over an undefeated Farmingdale.

Majorana ended with four goals and four assists. Kelsey Quackenbush also had a strong game in goal, grabbing 13 saves.

“Playing Farmingdale (12-1) is always so much fun,” said senior attack Majorana. “Over the years we got a great rivalry going and it’s just unbelievable that we came out here strong and beat them. Our goalie Kelsey played amazing today and our defense was just right on top of it.”

Manhasset (10-4) took hold of the lead at the 14:34 mark of the first half and never gave it up. The Indians’ pressure defense disrupted Farmingdale’s dangerous attack and helped them take a commanding six-goal lead when Natalie Stefan scored with 7:10 left in the second half.

Stefan had three goals and Charlotte Avallone had two goals.

“My kids played great today,” said Manhasset head coach Danielle Gallagher. “We’ve been riding a roller-coaster all season long so it is good to see that this is the team that they can be and hopefully this is the team they know they can be going into the playoffs.

“We played our game plan, which is good. We didn’t play in the hands of Farmingdale. They’ve got great offensive power, tons of kids that can score, tons of threats and my kids just did a good job of being patient and getting their slides to go while playing team defense.”

Farmingdale came out aggressive, scoring three quick goals taking a 3-1 lead at 17:30 of the first half. The Dalers couldn’t get their offense going after they lost the lead. Kim Kolodny and Colleen Reynolds both had two goals and one assist and Nadine Hadnagy had two goals.

“We are just a lot of tired bodies who ran into an unbelievably good team,” said Farmingdale head coach Shari Campbell. “Halle Majorana may be the best player I’ve ever seen play in my history of coaching and I’ve had a lot of great players that have played here. They had it going on today and we didn’t have an answer.”
