“Today was a great team win,” said Sacred Heart assistant coach Morgan Molinari. “It was a good overall effort by everybody; we needed a win like that.

“We are having a great season; we only have one loss. Each game we get better and that’s what we are looking to do. Every single game you want to get a little bit better so that you can be the best at the end of the season.”

Sacred Heart (14-1) raced to a 9-1 lead and held a 12-4 advantage at halftime. Maeve Quinn had three goals and Nina Corcoran had two goals and six assists.

“We played well as a team today,” said senior midfielder Conto. “Our defensive play was great in the first half and we continued that in the second half. I think everyone played strong today.”

St. John the Baptist (6-5) rallied late in the second half, ending the game on a 5-1 run. Kaylie O’Reilly had four goals and Jill May added three.

“We have a lot of young talent,” said St. John the Baptist head coach Janine Pirone. “Our younger girls are stepping up and putting us on the board and that is helping us out a lot. We are still learning and because we are young we are still adjusting. This is a building year so we are looking into the future.”
