Amanda Turturro had three goals and five assists as host Farmingdale continued its dominance today by routing Syosset, 19-4, in girls’ lacrosse action.

The Dalers are 8-0 and ranked No. 3 by LIlacrosseNews.com and also No. 3 in the nation by ESPNHS.

Nadine Hadnagy and Kim Kolodny each had three goals and an assist for Farmingdale, which led, 10-2, at halftime.

“We came out a little slow in the first half,” said junior midfielder Turturro. “Once the second half started we picked it up a little.

“This has been a slow season so far because we haven’t had much competition yet but once we hit Tuesday we are playing Garden City and that will be (like) the start of our season. I can’t wait.”
Colleen Reynolds, Jillian Alonso and Bridget Weill each scored two goals for the Dalers.

Farmingdale coach Shari Campbell agreed that the Dalers picked up the intensity in the second half.

“We played well enough today,” said Campbell. “We have very lofty goals; we want to get back upstate, get back to the Long Island Championship and get back to the county final. We have to start playing better mentally and emotionally; and raise our level of play no matter who our opponents are.

“I’m in love with this team,” added Campbell. “I don’t want any of the seniors to graduate; they work so hard, their work ethic is unbelievable and they have raised the bar of what it is to be a Lady Daler lacrosse player.”

Syosset (7-4) got nine saves from Meg Gulmi. Tori Harrison, Delaney O’Keefe, Maria Tejera and Dominique Compito all had one goal.

“This is the most successful season we’ve had in a long time,” said Syosset head coach Diane Malley. “We’ve beat some teams we haven’t beaten in the past – Baldwin being one of them and that has been a great momentum builder for us.

“I think we learned a lot today. We competed for a lot of the first half, which is something we didn’t do last year. So this is a step in the right direction. I’m anxious to see what they take away from this and how it makes us a better team.”
