Sacred Heart (7-0) jumped into the rankings this week by beating three of the top five teams in Florida, including the No. 1 squad, Vero Beach (15-2). The Spartans have played only one conference game so far but they are a team to keep an eye on after this week’s play.

Garden City (5-0) won their 53rd straight game, keeping them in the top spot. Wantagh (5-2), Eastport-South Manor (5-1) and Manhasset (4-3) suffered losses this week, knocking them out of the Top 10 for now. This made room for North Shore (6-1) to move into the rankings.

There are so many teams still undefeated but as the season goes on teams will start to be weeded out.

Garden City hosts Connecticut power Darien (CT) today; on Saturday and Sunday, Garden City, St. Anthony’s, and Hauppauge will compete in the inaugural Maryland-New York Challenge at St. Paul’s SG (MD). The matchups for the first day are ideal: No. 1 Garden City vs. McDonogh, the top-ranked team in the nation; Hauppauge vs. St. Paul’s; St Anthony’s vs Bryn Mawr; and Upstate’s West Genesee vs. John Carroll. On Sunday the matchups will be created by the LaxPower rankings so No. 1 from each state meets No. 1, etc.
