The Panthers improved to 5-3 with their third straight win. The Hurricanes fell to 2-5.

“We impressed on offense,” said Babylon coach Tim Harrison. “We were well -coordinated on defense and our transition play was good on both ends.

“Our season is going very, very well. These kids continue to work hard, we are getting better every day and they have a lot of fun – which is a huge part of it all.”

Babylon’s defense was tenacious in the first half, when the Panthers took a 4-1 lead. The offense came to life in the second half; Kaileen Hart added two goals and two assists to spark the attack and Kate Wilson made eight saves.

“We played really good team defense especially in the first half,” said Fredricks. “This is the best season as a team that we have played, we have each other’s backs on the field defensively and offensively and it’s really just a good atmosphere all around.”

Westhampton (2-5) tried to make a comeback in the second half, scoring four goals in four minutes making the score 11-6 with 15 minutes left. Bella Recchion and Alexa Smith both scored two goals for Westhampton.

“We didn’t show up today,” said Anne Naughton, Westhampton head coach said. “They wanted it more than us. We turned it on a little bit in the second half, but we couldn’t dig out of the hole; we are a young team we just have to learn to be more intense and ready to play.”
