From Press Release
Hofstra freshman midfielder Brittain Altomare earned the first weekly honor of her collegiate career as she was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week, it was announced this afternoon.
It is Hofstra’s third weekly honor this season as senior goalie Jaclyn Pandolf was named the CAA Player of the Week on February 20 and freshman attack April Iannetta garnered rookie of the week honors back on March 5.
Altomare started the week with a goal and a caused turnover against James Madison before exploding for a career day against George Mason on Sunday.
In Hofstra’s 23-7 win over the Patriots, Altomare led Hofstra with seven points on three goals and four assists. Her four assists led the team and her three assists was tied for team-high honors. Altomare also had a team-best four draw controls for the Pride.
The points and assists total were both individual highs for a member of the Pride this season.
Hofstra (3-9, 2-1 CAA) ended a seven-game losing skid with the 23-7 win over George Mason. The 23 goals tie the program record for goals in a game, set back on March 15, 1996 in a 23-5 season-opening win over Davidson.
For the season, Altomare leads Hofstra in scoring with 24 points on 11 goals and a team-high 13 assists. She also has seven draw controls, five ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Hofstra returns to action on Friday when it travels to Towson for a 7 p.m. contest.
