From Press Release
Hofstra junior midfielder Adrian Sorichetti has been named the Colonial Athletic Association co-Player of the Week for the period ending March 26, the CAA announced Monday.
Sorichetti, a native of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, tallied eight goals and four assists in two Hofstra games last week as the Pride posted a 1-1 record. Sorichetti posted a career-high seven goals and three assists to lead the Pride over the Red Storm of St. John’s, 14-10 on Tuesday at James M. Shuart Stadium. It was the most goals by a Pride player since Jim Femminella scored seven against Notre Dame in 2003 and the most points since Steve Walakovits notched 10 against Army in 1989.
On Saturday at Drexel, Sorichetti added a goal and an assist in the first quarter as the Pride jumped out to a 4-0 lead before falling to the Dragons, 6-5.
Sorichetti, who now has a nine-game point scoring streak, leads the Pride team with 18 goals and nine assists for 27 points. He ranks third in goals and points and is sixth in assists in the CAA.
Sorichetti shares the CAA Player of the Week award with Drexel senior defender Dana Wilber, who scored the game-winner against the Pride with 3:14 to play in the fourth quarter. The CAA also announced that Towson midfielder Justin Mabus was selected the conference Rookie of the Week after recording a goal and three assists in two Tiger victories last week.
