St. Paul’s School for Girls (MD) has announced that it will host the Maryland-New York Challenge girls’ lacrosse tournament, featuring eight of the top programs in the country.
The tourney will pit four teams from Maryland’s IAAM vs. four teams from New York on April 21-22. Three of the teams from New York will come from Long Island and a fourth from Upstate.
the tourney will be using the 2011 LaxPower Final National/CCR poll Games on Saturday to determine the pairings. The two top teams from each state will square off, then on down the list.
Saturday’s schedule would look like this:
10 AM: NY# 4 vs MD# 4
Hauppauge vs. SPSG
12 PM: NY# 2 vs. MD# 2
St Anthony’s vs Bryn Mawr
2 PM: NY# 3 vs. MD# 3
West Genesee vs. John Carroll
4 PM: NY# 1 vs. MD# 1
McDonogh vs. Garden City
LaxPower will re-run the power rankings following the final game on Saturday to allow the most recent 2012 match up of No. 1s, etc. If the rankings remains the same for 2012, the pairings will be adjusted.
