Under Armour Tryouts
The boys’ tryouts dates have been set for the Long Island team in the annual Under Armour Underclassmen Games June 29-July 1 at Towson University. The tryouts will be held June 9-10 from 6-to-10 p.m. at the Field of Dreams Park in Massapequa. Mike Chanenchuk (St. Anthony’s), Jack Moran (Chaminade) and George Powers (Nassau Community College) will be coaching the Long Island boys’ team. The 10-team tournament will features 10 teams in all, including squads from Baltimore, Philadelphia (PA/Delaware), Midwest, New England, New Jersey, South, Upstate NY and Washington, D.C. and West.

The 2012 Shamrock Lax Shootout, March 17-18 for boys’ and girls’ teams in grades 2 through 9. The Boys Town and Travel teams will play at Sagamore Middle School and Stony Brook University. Games will be played at the Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium, the recreation fields and the new state of the art Field Turf facility at Stony Brook. Ninth Annual Liberty Lacrosse Shootout, a boys’ youth lacrosse festival, June 9-10, at the Greater Chester Valley Soccer Association’s Line Road Complex, Malvern. The Liberty Shootout has become one of the most popular youth festivals in the Mid-Atlantic region, drawing teams Greater Philadelphia, Central PA, the Lehigh Valley, New Jersey and neighboring hotbeds within a few hours’ drive. Over 100 teams and 2500 youth players are expected to participate. Warrior has been the principal sponsor of the Shootout for 7 years.
Liberty is a day tournament, with U-9 and U-13 teams playing on Saturday and U-11 and U-15 teams playing on Sunday. Teams can register to play in either A or B brackets, though all U-9 teams play in one bracket on smaller-sized fields (7 v 7), often generating the most noise. Teams will play at least 3 games in diverse pools within their respective age groups. The competition is strong at each level, rules are designed to ensure games remain competitive; pool winners advance in a playoff format.
Additionally, teams in each age group will be recognized for sportsmanship based largely on sportsmanship scorecards kept by certified officials and site marshals after each game, taking into account the spirit of the game and conduct on both sides of the field, including spectators. For the Love of the Game Tournament 2012, June 16-17 at the Mitchell Athletic Complex in Uniondale. The event will feature 3rd-to-8th Grade Town and Select teams. Each Division will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. All-Star teams will be selected for each grade level. Tournament proceeds will benefit Lax 4 All. Click here for registration.
Also, the USA U19 team will face a Long island U19 college All-Star team on Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. There will be free admission for all tourney players and coaches. Regular admission for the game is $7 if paid online or $10 at the door.
Fifteenth Annual Jay Gallagher Memorial Tournament, hosted by The Garden City youth lacrosse program and Jay Gallagher Memorial Foundation, on June 16-17. The tournament raises funds and public awareness for the Andy Foundation, Mollie Biggane Melanoma Foundation and the Miracle Foundation. Over 120 teams from the Northeast will participate with over 4,000 players, coaches, and parents attending the event. Games will be held at St. Paul’s, Garden City Middle School and Garden City High School.
The Jay Gallagher Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving cancer awareness, improving the lives of those diagnosed with cancer, and finding a cure for the disease. This year’s tournament will involve 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade boy’s divisions and 4th, 5th and 6th grade girl’s divisions. All games will be played between 10 AM and 4PM. The registration fee is $600.00 and includes all referees fees and tee shirts for the boys and girls. Last year’s tourney drew 120 teams and the first ever Challenger Lacrosse game in the Northeast. The program is geared to providing athletic opportunities to children with mental and physical disabilities (ages 6-21).

All teams play at least 5 games in a Tournament/Championship Format (3 games of pool play on Sat & 2 games of playoffs/consolations on Sun). The Patriot Games Youth Lacrosse Showcase (the “Tournament”) requires all players, coaches, officials, parents and spectators to abide by a “Code of Conduct” that embodies basic common sense principles, demonstrates consideration of others, and reflects well on the great game of lacrosse. FLG IN 3D Tournament, hosted by For the Love of the Game and 3d Lacrosse (CO), at Archbishop Spading, Severn, MD, July 20-22. Top club teams from different regions of the country will spend a weekend competing against each other in a high-level tournament that will include college coaches from Divisions I, II and III, All-Star Games in each division, vendor village, and a quality tournament in beautiful surroundings.
All teams will play one game on Friday, July 20. Games will begin at 3:00 pm. The tournament will conclude Sunday, July 22 by 3:00 p.m. Game Guarantee: All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 5 games over the course of the weekend. All teams will have one game on Friday afternoon/evening. Divisions: In order to keep the competition at a high level, 3d Lacrosse and FLG will cap the number of teams that can participate. Divisions will be grade-based, as follows:
2013 Rising Seniors Division; 2014 Rising Juniors Division; 2015 Rising Sophomores Division; Youth Divisions will also be grade-based: 2016 Rising Freshmen, 2017 Rising 8th graders
The FLG in 3D tournament will include pool play and championship play. How well a team does in pool play will determine their seeding for championship play. Points will be given as follows: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss. Seeding ties will be broken by:
The tournament registration fee is $100 for youth players (2016, 2017) and $250 for high school players (2013, 2014, 2015). In addition, a $250 deposit per team is required to hold a team’s spot. Lehigh Mountain Hawks Day Camp, Grades 1-10, Monday June 18– Thursday June 21st, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm – Extended Day 3:15-4:15 pm
Camp Description: This camp was developed to help beginners through advanced players improve their skill set with exceptional College level instruction in all aspects of the game. The Lehigh Men’s Lacrosse Staff as well as Lehigh varsity players, other college coaches and college players will be here to pass on their energy and knowledge. The extended day is an extra hour at the end of each day focusing on positional skill and collegiate like drills. Villanova University Overnight Instructional Camp, July 10-13, for athletes aged 11-to-17 that are interested in improving their basic skills and learning the techniques of lacrosse. The camp will be divided into a two junior divisions (11- and 12-year olds and 13- and 14- year-olds) and a senior division (15-to-17). The entire Villanova University Men’s Lacrosse staff as well as local high school coaches and many of the best current college players will be coaching. The highly skilled and beginners will benefit from the college and high school coaches who teach at the camp.

The showcase will provide a platform for players to display their skills in front of college coaches from Divisions I, II, and III, as these coaches will be invited to serve as instructors and also as recruiters. Off the field, players will take part in strength and speed training clinic (results will be given to take home at the end of camp), recruiting & academic seminar, and a leadership/character building seminar. The mission of the Lehigh Valley Showcase is to help prospective student athletes gain visibility within the recruiting landscape, while helping them grow as players and as people.

This event will bring together some of the most talented rising sophomores and juniors in the country. Open to all prospects in the 2014 & 2015 classes, this three-day, two-night event will feature a practice run by college coaches, a recruiting seminar presented by the Villanova Men’s Lacrosse coaching staff, as well as 5 one-hour games for players to showcase their talents.

Camp Description: The Lehigh Valley Showcase is designed to provide rising high school juniors from the Lehigh Valley and across the nation with advanced skill development in a highly competitive, tournament style, playing environment. The showcase will provide a platform for players to display their skills in front of college coaches from Divisions I, II, and III, as these coaches will be invited to serve as instructors and also as recruiters. As one of the last showcase events of the summer, this is a great chance to be seen before the 2014 recruiting season gets rolling (September 1 is the first time college coaches can communicate with a PSA per NCAA rule). Off the field, players will take part in strength and speed training clinics (results will be given to take home at the end of camp), recruiting & academic seminar, and a leadership/character building seminar. The mission of the Lehigh Valley Showcase is to help campers gain visibility within the recruiting landscape, while helping them grow as players and as people.
