From Press Release
Adelphi University and Le Moyne College both received 137 points to share the top spot in the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Preseason Poll for the upcoming season.
Adelphi (20-0, 12-0 NE-10), which enters the spring having won three straight Division II national championships, received seven first-place votes in the poll following an undefeated season a year ago. The Panthers have not yet lost a game in conference play since joining the Northeast-10 prior to the 2009-10 campaign, going a combined 23-0 over the last two seasons.
Adelphi’s Erica Devito (Shoreham-Wading River), the second-leading goal scorer in the Northeast-10 last season, returns for her senior year after totaling 77 goals and 29 assists for 106 points a year ago. Sophomore Devan Crimi, who finished last year with 46 goals and 27 assists for 92 points, also returns for the Panthers, while new head coach Rob Grella enters his first year as head coach of the program.
Le Moyne (18-3, 11-1 NE-10) received five first-place votes in the preseason poll. The Dolphins will welcome back senior Brittany Brigandi after she led the Northeast-10 in goals (87) last season, as well as junior Brenna Bauer, who totaled 30 goals and 26 assists for 56 points in 2011.
Both Le Moyne and Adelphi also tied for the top spot in the country Lacrosse Magazine national preseason poll released last week.
