Manhasset senior attackman/midfielder Kevin Katzmann has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Washington and Lee University.

Kevin Katzmann

High School: Manhasset High School

Graduation year: 2012

Position: Attack/Middie

College Choice:
Washington and Lee

Club Affiliation:
For the Love of the Game

Major lacrosse honors/camps: NY class “C” State Champions 2010, Nike Blue Chip Fall 2010, Top 205, King of the Hill, Adidas National Lacrosse Classic 2009

Academic honors: National Honor Society, High Honor Roll, NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete, Varsity Leadership Council, Volunteer Firefighter

What will you major in/study? “I have not decided yet, but probably either Economics or Pre-Med.”

Why did you choose school? “I chose Washington and Lee because I loved the small-school atmosphere and tough academics. Coach (Gene) McCabe and the rest of the staff and players made me feel really welcome, and I am looking forward to playing with them and competing for a National Championship.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “Our Manhasset team this year is looking very strong. Our only two losses in the past two years have been to Garden City, and they cut our season short last year on the road to the state Championship. We have been working hard in the off-season and we have a lot of depth so it will be interesting to see what underclassmen step up. We definitely have the capability of winning another state title if it all comes together.”
