Women’s recruit: Smithtown East senior midfield Fini commits to St. Francis U.

Smithtown East senior midfield Christina Fini has committed to play Division I lacrosse at St. Francis University.

High School: Smithtown High School East

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Midfield

College Choice: St. Francis University (PA)

Club Affiliation: Suffolk County All Stars

Major lacrosse honors: Unsung Hero Award 2011, 4 year varsity

Academic honors: National Honor Society member, NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Award (field hockey)

Service Projects: Peer Mentoring Program, Participant in breast cancer awareness games and fundraisers (field hockey)

What will you major in/study? International Business and a language (Spanish or Italian)

Why did you choose St. Francis? “St. Francis University gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse; a great education, a team that’s more like a family, and bright outlook for my future.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “My team has always been strong competition and I think we have a chance this year to do some great things, we just need to come together and play as a unit.”

Additional comments: “I would like to thank my coaches Ann Naughton, Ed Houlihan, and Jamie Romito for always believing in me, pushing me to get to that next level, and for becoming more than just coaches but mentors and friends. Also, I would like to that my father, for always offering me the best opportunities possible to succeed in everything I do- thank you for everything.”
