From Press Release

Stony Brook men’s lacrosse coach Jim Nagle announced the Seawolves’ 14-game, regular-season schedule for the 2012 season on Thursday. The Seawolves will face four teams that made the 2011 NCAA Tournament, including Virginia, the defending national champions.

“We are very excited about our 2012 schedule,” Nagle said. “Our non-conference schedule should prepare us well for the evenly matched America East conference schedule. With a lot of recent change in our program, it should be easy to take it one game at a time. That’s what we are looking forward to most.”

Stony Brook opens the season at Fairfield on February 18 before taking on the Cavaliers the following week. The Stony Brook-Virginia series has produced two of the more exciting games in recent history, which was seen by a combined 15,000 fans, February 25 in Charlottesville.

The Seawolves open the home portion of the schedule against Marist on March 3 before traveling to face Delaware on March 10.

Two straight home games – St. John’s on March 13 and Towson on March 17 – will take place before Stony Brook heads upstate to take on Siena on March 20. The Seawolves will take on Bryant on March 24 before opening America East play against Vermont on March 31.

Stony Brook heads out on the road against Binghamton on April 7 and UMBC on April 14 before a quick turnaround against Yale, a team Stony Brook hasn’t played since 1998, on April 16.

America East defending champion Hartford closes out the home schedule on April 21 and the regular season ends at Albany on April 28.

The America East Championship semifinals will be on Wednesday, May 2, with the final on May 5.

Stony Brook, in Nagle’s first season, returns preseason All-Americans in seniors Robbie Campbell (Delta, British Columbia) and Kyle Moeller (South Setauket, N.Y.). The Seawolves are the defending America East regular season champions, and have appeared in the conference title game three consecutive seasons.
