Women’s commitment: Cold Spring Harbor senior middie Sherlock chooses Yale

Cold Spring Harbor senior middie Kelly Anne Sherlock has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Yale University and begin the admissions process.

Major lacrosse honors: Senior Captain, US Lacrosse Long Island Metro WDNT team (2011/ 12), Empire State Team Alternate 2010, All County Honorable Mention 2011, All Conference 2010, All Galaxy Tournament Honor, Three time Scholar Athlete Representative, Positive Coaching Alliance Scholarship finalist, Three Varsity Letters.

Other sports and Honors: Varsity Winter Track- Junior and Senior Captain, All County in the 4x400m relay, All Conference 1000m race, school record holder in the 4×200, 4×400, 4×800 relays
Varsity Soccer- Senior Captain, 3 Varsity Letters, 3 time Scholar Athlete Rep.

Academic honors: National Merit Commended Student, AP Scholar with Distinction, National Honor Society Vice President, Spanish National Honor Society member, Public Forum Debate State Champion,High Honor Roll (every quarter for 4 years), nominated to attend a Student Athlete leadership conference at Hofstra University, Student Government Treasurer, Debate Team Captain, St. Patrick’s Church lector and Splashes of Hope Club founder (a club that assists an organization that paints uplifting murals in pediatric treatment centers).

Why did you pick Yale? “Yale as an academic institution is world renowned for the outstanding educational experience and rigor offered, but it also has has a legacy in the collegiate athletic realm as well and I was excited by the idea of attending Yale and making an impact. I was astonished by the beauty of the campus and excited by the enthusiasm of the coaches on my visit, and fell in love at once.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We are looking for consistency this upcoming season. Last year we had an unbelievable season, finishing as Conference Champions with an undefeated in-conference record, however our playoff run was abruptly cut short. This season our goal is take advantage of the large number of players we have returning and win a County Championship.”

Additional comments: “I would love to thank my parents for supporting me through out the process and always pushing me to reach for a school both academically and athletically excellent. I would especially like to thank my Dad who took an incredible number of weekend road trips with me last fall, to play in fall clinics and tournaments, and for always cheering me on from the sidelines.”
