Sacred Heart senior attack Maeve Quinn has committed to play Division 1 lacrosse at Fairfield University.

Maeve Quinn log:

High School: Sacred Heart Academy

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Attack

College Choice: Fairfield University

Club Affiliation: Team Elevate

Major lacrosse honors: 2011 National Lacrosse Classic East Team, 2012 USA U-19 Lacrosse Team (AIST Laxfest UK Tour 2012)

Academic honors: National Honor Society, First Honors (Honor Roll – grades 9-11), Camp ANCHOR (camp for disabled and special needs children and adults – 6 weeks in the summer for 5 days a week and every other Saturday during the school year)

What will you major in/study? “I’m going into the Business school but I’m undecided on my major as of right now.”

Why did you choose Fairfield? “When I stepped onto the campus at Fairfield I knew it was the right school for me. I have wanted to go to Fairfield since I was in middle school. The atmosphere was really welcoming and I fell in love with it. The coaches and team are the nicest, friendliest, and most welcoming people, which is exactly what I was looking for. I am so happy with my decision and I would not want to be going to another school.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “This season our team should be really strong, with girls going to University of Pennsylvania, Hofstra, Siena, University of Massachusetts, Marquette, and there are still other great players looking to play. We’re hoping to be more competitive this year with teams like St. Anthony’s, with all of the talent we have to offer. We have to replace three girls who graduated this year, but besides that we’re looking to work hard and do great this season.”

Additional comments: “Dave Kotowski, my coach and head of the Team Elevate club, has helped me so much through the process and gave me such a great experience on Team Elevate. He always pushed us to look in the right direction and to look at schools that not only interested us in lacrosse, but also for academics. He really pushed us to do well academically and always wanted the best for us. Morgan Molinari, my coach at Sacred Heart, also really helped me with getting recruited. I went to her office everyday with new questions and she was always willing to answer them. She always pushed me to call coaches and visit schools even when I was hesitant. It would have been a really hard process without them, along with my family, to stay focused and get recruited by my school of choice.”
