Ward Melville senior midfielder Jimmy Coughlan has committed to play Division 1 lacrosse at Brown University and begin the admissions process while pursuing a PG year.

Jimmy Coughlan log:

High School: Ward Melville High School

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Midfield

PG Choice: Undecided

College Choice: Brown University

Club Affiliation: Ward Melville Lacrosse summer team

What will you major in/study? “I’m not sure yet, but probably something to do with business.”

Why are you taking a PG year? “I’m still 16 and very young for my grade, I thought it would be good to live on my own, take an extra year to better myself both academically and athletically and become more prepared for college.”

Why did you choose Brown? “My dad (James) played lacrosse at Brown and my sister (Bryn) is currently on the women’s team so I know how great the school, lacrosse program and coaching staff are. Brown gives me every opportunity I could ask for.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We are going to have a talented roster and we’re all excited to see what we can do. Our league is never easy to play in but we think we’ll do very well this year.”

Note – All student-athletes committing to Ivy league schools must continue through the admissions process
