St. Anthony’s junior attackman Dylan Molloy has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Brown University and begin the admissions process.

Dylan Molloy log:

High School: St. Anthony’s High School

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Attackman

College Choice: Brown University

Major lacrosse honors: “The last two summers played at Jake Reed Blue Chip and Maverick Showtime. This year I also played at Top 205 (selected for All Star team), and Blue Chip 225 Elite Division (selected for All Star team).”

Academic honors: Maintained High Honor Roll every quarter in high school so far; member of the National Honor Society and the Student Leadership team (S.A.L.T); Recipient of the St. Bonaventure Academic Award (over 95% average).

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose Brown? “My main reason for choosing Brown was for the high academics and competitive lacrosse team. Coach Lars Tiffany was very influential in my decision because of how passionate he is about both the academics at Brown University and the lacrosse program. Assistant Coach Kip Turner was also very easy to talk to and eager to get to know me as a person. Everyone that I spoke to that attended Brown and played for Coach Tiffany had nothing but great things to say about him, the team and the University.

“When I visited Brown I felt like I could see myself as a student there. Brown’s campus is really nice, great size, and all the students seem to be really happy there. The open curriculum at Brown also appealed to me since I have not decided on what my major is going to be. They are also in the middle of building an awesome new athletic facility that will be great for the University and the lacrosse team. I chose Brown because I thought that it was the best fit for me and I want to have a great overall college experience.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “I think that St. Anthony’s will have a great year and win the Catholic League again. There are so many great players at St. Anthony’s and the coaches there know how to get the most out of the talent that they have on the team.”

Additional comments: “I would like to thank my parents for all the time they devoted taking me to lacrosse camps, tournaments, practices, and tutors to make me a better student and lacrosse player and my brother, Ryan, for being a great role model as a great student/athlete. I also want to thank my St. Anthony’s coaches for helping me to expand my role on the lacrosse field and making me a better all around player.”

Note: All student-athletes applying to Ivy League schools must continue through the normal admissions process
