Sacred Heart senior goalie Emma Salter has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Marquette University.

Emma Salter log:

High School: Sacred Heart Academy

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Goalie

College Choice: Marquette University

Club Affiliation: Long Island Liberty

Major lacrosse honors: 2011 Academic All-American, 2011 All-American Lacrosse National Classic Regional Team, and 2010 Long Island Girls Challenge Team MVP

Academic honors: National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Principal’s List

What will you major in/study? Nursing

Why did you choose Marquette? “Marquette University has a tradition of academic and athletic excellence. In particular, they have a great nursing program. I also chose Marquette because I think it’s so exciting to be part of a new, Division 1 program, especially one that we will be part of the competitive Big East.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We are returning most of our starters from last year’s team (We lost only three seniors from last year) so my team is excited about this year. My coach is scheduling a tough non-league schedule for us this year. We are looking forward to improving from last year and having a very successful season.”

Additional comments: “I would like to thank both my club and high school coaches for helping become me the best player I can be. They helped me so much throughout the recruiting process. I would also like to thank my parents who spent the past 6 summers driving me to tournaments. They are the most dedicated, caring parents in the world!”
