Midfielder/attackman Tyler Johnston, who attended the same high school as the late Nick Colleluori, has transferred from Georgetown to Hofstra, school officials confirmed.
Johnston was a US Lacrosse All-American and an All-Phillylacrosse.com pick as a middie in 2010 at Ridley High (PA). He had 33 goals and 18 assists and also earned First Team Central League honors. He enrolled at Georgetown, but did not play last year.
Johnston had 43 goals in 2009 when he also was an All-American and a First Team Central League pick.
In 2008 Johnston scored 39 goals as an attackmen and was a First Team Central League pick.
Johnston was a volunteer for the HEADstrong Foundation and played club lacrosse for its club squad, Team HEADstrong. The HEADstrong Foundation, which has raised over $1 million to fight blood cancer, was created by Pride lacrosse player Colleluori, a Ridley High grad who passed away in 2006 following a lengthy fight against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
